County Extension Agent – Family & Consumer Science

About the role

The County Extension Agent – Family & Consumer Science will design and deliver practical, community‑based education programs that support nutrition, family well‑being, health, food safety, and economic self‑sufficiency across the county.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, and present workshops, classes, and outreach events on nutrition, health, food safety, and family economics.
• Collaborate with local volunteers, community leaders, agencies, and government officials to foster participation and support.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the county’s social, economic, and political landscape to tailor programs effectively.
• Conduct needs assessments, evaluate program impact, and adjust offerings based on community feedback.
• Prepare reports, manage program budgets, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Family & Consumer Sciences, Nutrition, Education, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in extension services, community education, or similar outreach roles.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
• Self‑motivated, organized, and capable of working independently in a county‑wide setting.
