About the role

The County Extension Agent – Family & Consumer Science delivers practical, community‑based education programs that help individuals and families improve nutrition, health, food safety, and economic self‑sufficiency. Working within a county setting, the agent partners with local volunteers and stakeholders to create impactful learning experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, and present educational programs on nutrition, family well‑being, health, food safety, and economic self‑sufficiency.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the county’s social, economic, and political landscape.
• Serve as a liaison between the university extension service, community leaders, agencies, and government entities.
• Recruit, train, and supervise volunteer educators and program assistants.
• Solicit community support and participation to enhance program reach and effectiveness.

Required profile

• Demonstrated understanding of county‑level social and economic issues.
• Experience in community outreach, adult education, or extension services.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse audiences.
• Ability to collaborate with local leaders, agencies, and volunteers.
