Controls Engineer – Power Generation

About the role

The Power Generation Controls Engineer will program and commission Enerflex power generation packages, support sales applications for new units, and provide operational support to customers. This role involves on‑site commissioning, troubleshooting, and delivering technical assistance for industrial engine‑driven generators.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and adjust ComAp, PAC/PLC/HMI, DIA.NE, relay and protective device programs.
• Support control designers in creating wiring diagrams and review/approve project wiring diagrams.
• Release project bills of material and coordinate with manufacturers.
• Perform emergency service, preventative maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting of generator control systems.
• Commission and service Enerflex‑designed power generation systems, including on‑site testing and shop testing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering.
• 2‑4 years experience in commissioning power generation or medium‑voltage systems.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 25%.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Required skills

• Programming and troubleshooting of PLCs, HMIs, SELs and NGR relays.
• Experience with ComAp, Woodward generator controllers, and DIA.NE control panels.
• Knowledge of MCCs, VFDs, electrical switchgear, low‑ and medium‑voltage systems, and NEC code.
• Ability to read and interpret single‑line drawings, P&ID schematics, and control schematics.
