Controller – Commercial Real Estate

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting and finance function of a fast‑growing real estate investment and property management organization. This senior leadership position will oversee the financial operations of a complex portfolio that includes more than 40 legal entities and roughly 100 properties.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all accounting and financial reporting activities across the entire portfolio, ensuring accurate property‑level, entity‑level, and consolidated statements.
• Supervise monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including AP/AR, bank reconciliations, intercompany transactions, owner distributions, lender reporting, and cash management.
• Coordinate with external CPAs, tax advisors, auditors, lenders, and investors.
• Maintain strong internal controls and deliver timely, actionable financial insights for management decision‑making.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, KPI tracking, and portfolio‑level performance analysis.
• Design and implement scalable, technology‑enabled processes, automating manual tasks and introducing AI‑supported workflows.
• Develop detailed SOPs, process diagrams, and reporting frameworks for a multi‑entity environment.

Required profile

• Deep accounting experience with a focus on real estate or property‑management accounting.
• Proven ability to create structure and control in complex, multi‑entity organizations.
• Senior‑level leadership skills with a track record of building and managing finance teams.
• Strategic mindset combined with willingness to handle detailed accounting tasks when needed.
