Civil Engineering Intern – Aviation

About the role

Talbert, Bright & Ellington (TBE) is looking for a motivated Civil Engineering Intern to support aviation infrastructure projects in Miami. The role offers hands‑on experience in airport planning, design, and construction, working closely with seasoned engineers and project managers.

Key responsibilities

• Assist engineers in creating airfield plans, drawings, and technical documents for runways, taxiways, aprons, grading, drainage, and utilities.
• Use AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related tools to develop design concepts and project deliverables.
• Perform basic engineering calculations such as pavement geometry, grading, and storm‑water flow estimates.
• Shadow field inspections, construction observations, and data‑collection activities under supervision.
• Prepare engineering reports, design narratives, cost estimates, and quantity takeoffs.
• Research FAA design standards, regulations, and airport planning requirements.
• Organize project documentation, create exhibits, and contribute to presentations.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to work on‑site in Miami.
• Interest in aviation, airports, or transportation engineering.
