CIB Underwriting & Portfolio Management Analyst

About the role

Santander is seeking a motivated analyst to support its Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) underwriting and portfolio management team in the United States. You will work closely with senior underwriters to evaluate, structure, and package commercial loan opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, package, review, and reconcile loan application documents and financial exhibits.
• Order and perform preliminary reviews of third‑party reports (appraisal, inspection, environmental) for compliance.
• Analyze, interpret, and underwrite complex transactions in line with agency guidelines.
• Conduct economic and demographic research to assess transaction feasibility.
• Assist in preparing comprehensive loan approval packages for credit committee presentation.
• Conduct inspections of physical assets as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant underwriting or commercial loan experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical ability and proficiency with financial statements.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment and collaborate effectively with teams.
• Knowledge of Federal banking regulations and sound credit judgment.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
