Chief, Salaries and Allowances Division

About the role

The International Civil Service Commission (ICSC) seeks a senior professional to lead its Salaries and Allowances Division. Reporting to the Executive Secretary, the incumbent will guide the secretariat staff in matters related to remuneration, travel per diem rates, and related conditions of service for the United Nations common system.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare studies on policy questions concerning remuneration for internationally‑recruited staff across professional, higher and general service categories, including budgetary impact analysis.
• Manage day‑to‑day operational work for establishing travel per diem rates and other allowances.
• Direct surveys of local market conditions that underpin salary scales for General Service and locally‑recruited staff at duty stations.
• Maintain liaison with other common‑system organizations and internal divisions on remuneration matters.
• Assist the Commission in deliberations on methodologies for determining and comparing remuneration elements.
