Chemist II – Bioconjugation

About the role

The Chemist II – Bioconjugation will support protein conjugation and purification projects within the Consumer Products Services division. Working in a Boston laboratory, the role involves using advanced chromatography and analytical instruments while collaborating with senior chemists on multiple concurrent projects.

Key responsibilities

• Synthesize protein conjugates with payloads such as oligonucleotides and dyes.
• Purify proteins and conjugates using FPLC systems (AKTA, etc.).
• Perform analytical assays (LC‑MS, SEC, IEX) to characterize products.
• Document experiments in electronic lab notebooks and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and support senior chemists on multiple projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical/Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related field (or Master’s with limited experience).
• 1–2 years of hands‑on experience in protein purification or bioconjugation.
• Strong organizational, time‑management and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Protein purification and bioconjugation techniques.
• Operation of AKTA/FPLC, Agilent LC‑MS, UPLC, Vanquish MX, Waters QDA.
• Analytical methods including LC‑MS, SEC, IEX.
• Proficiency with LIMS, electronic lab notebooks, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams/Sharepoint) and Windows.
