About the role
The Chemical Process Project Engineer will join INX International in Charlotte, NC, reporting to the VP of Engineering, Metal Technical Processes. This role blends process engineering expertise with project management to improve safety, quality, capacity, and efficiency across chemical manufacturing operations.
Key responsibilities
- Evaluate and optimize chemical manufacturing processes to increase throughput, quality, yield, and cost efficiency.
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Lead scale‑up of processes from laboratory or pilot to commercial production.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including PFDs, P&IDs, operating procedures, and specifications.
- Analyze production data to identify improvement and waste‑reduction opportunities.
- Support lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
- Establish operating parameters and controls for new and existing equipment.
- Lead capital and improvement projects from concept through commissioning, managing scope, budgets, schedules, and technical specifications.
- Coordinate equipment selection, vendor evaluation, procurement, and contractor management.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, preparing risk assessments and project justifications.
Required profile
- Proven experience evaluating and optimizing chemical manufacturing processes.
- Experience leading process scale‑up from pilot to full production.
- Demonstrated ability to manage capital projects through design, installation, commissioning, and startup.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous‑improvement methodologies.
