Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) – Support Staff

About the role

Under the general supervision of the Clinical Director and the clinical leadership of a Registered Nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care across multiple units, including Med/Surg, ICU, Observation, ER, Home Health, and Hospice. The role supports the plan of care, ensures patient safety, and contributes to a positive patient experience.

Key responsibilities

• Attend to daily living and safety needs of assigned patients, including hygiene, comfort, and basic needs.
• Obtain and record vital signs, heights, weights, and intake/output as per policy.
• Assist RN staff with patient care activities, bedside shift reports, and hourly patient rounds.
• Provide basic comfort services, maintain a safe environment, and accompany patients during transport for tests or procedures.
• Support video monitoring duties when required, reporting changes in patient behavior to nursing staff.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow infection‑control procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum age 18 (CNA) with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Current and valid Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
• Valid Arizona driver’s license (21 + years) with a clean driving record.
• Level‑one fingerprint clearance card for Home Health/Hospice positions.
• Ability to lift and move adult patients up to 300 lb and stand, bend, or walk for extended periods.

Required skills

• Proficiency in obtaining and documenting vital signs.
• Knowledge of infection‑control and patient safety protocols.
• Ability to operate video monitoring equipment and report observations.
• Effective communication with patients of all ages, including use of therapeutic communication tools.
