Battery System Engineer – EV Power Architecture

About the role

We are seeking a Battery System Engineer to own the architecture and analytical foundation of our electric‑vehicle battery systems. The role spans cell selection, pack design, thermal behavior, controls integration and the broader energy strategy, directly influencing range, performance, cost and long‑term platform energy direction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead trade studies across chemistry, pack topology, SOC window, cell selection and operating limits, translating decisions into cost, range, performance and cycle‑life impacts.
• Build and advance cell‑ and pack‑level electrical, thermal and degradation models, using real‑world usage data and mission profiles to set design targets and operating limits.
• Define battery operating concepts including charging strategy, user‑facing behavior, degradation management and end‑of‑life strategy, and embed them in system requirements and controls logic.
• Own cell evaluation and down‑selection, create characterization test plans, interpret performance data and feed results into pack‑level models and BMS operating envelopes.
• Specify battery system requirements such as protection thresholds, thermal limits, charge/discharge constraints, contactor and fuse sizing, fault detection and end‑of‑life criteria, collaborating with BMS hardware, firmware and controls teams.
• Close the loop between analysis and hardware by defining test cases and supporting bench and vehicle‑level validation.

Required profile

• Comfortable building models, defining operating concepts, debating architecture trade‑offs and guiding cross‑functional technical decisions.
• Open to candidates at any experience level, from junior to senior.
