AVP – Provider Performance Leader

About the role

The AVP – Provider Performance will lead provider productivity, patient access, capacity management and clinic template optimization for Ochsner’s New Orleans region. Partnering with physicians, APPs and operational leaders, this role drives strategic initiatives that improve utilization, operational efficiency and financial sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead region‑wide initiatives on provider productivity, patient access, capacity management and template optimization.
• Collaborate with the System Chief Medical Officer to develop strategies that boost physician and APP performance and financial outcomes.
• Monitor and benchmark provider metrics such as wRVUs, visit volumes, panel size and session utilization.
• Establish and enforce standards for scheduling, access and clinic templates, evaluating appointment availability and block time.
• Partner with hiring committees to assess workforce needs, calculate ROI for new hires and track post‑hire performance.
• Use analytics and predictive models to identify trends, create dashboards and support capacity planning decisions.
• Support onboarding, ramp‑up and ongoing performance management for providers and APPs.
• Work with medical leadership to drive continuous improvement, standardization and accountability across specialties.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Finance, Operations Management or related field (MBA/MPH preferred).
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in healthcare operations, ambulatory services, provider productivity or performance improvement.
• Experience leading multi‑site operational initiatives and partnering with physician leadership.
• Preferred certifications in Lean/Six Sigma or project management.
