Avionics Technician

About the role

The Avionics Technician will inspect, test, adjust and repair avionics equipment on aircraft, ensuring airworthiness and compliance with regulatory standards. The position supports both ground and in‑flight operations for the Worldwide Aviation Support Services program.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect avionics components for defects, loose connections, and wiring issues.
• Test equipment under simulated or actual conditions using oscilloscopes, digital meters, counters and circuit analyzers.
• Adjust, repair or replace defective parts following blueprints, schematics and technical manuals.
• Calibrate repaired equipment to prescribed specifications.
• Accompany flight crew for in‑flight adjustments and record post‑flight repair needs.
• Perform FAR‑required inspections (e.g., 91.411, 91.413) and operate ground stations for radar checks.
• Fabricate wiring harnesses and implement avionics upgrades.
• Provide host‑nation training and oversight of local avionics mechanics.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• FCC License with Element 3 or FAA A&P license.
• Graduate of an accredited avionics or related technical program (preferred).

Required skills

• Knowledge of radar, radio, pulse, navigation, autopilot and compass systems.
• Proficiency with oscilloscopes, digital meters, counters and circuit analyzers.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and technical manuals.
• Familiarity with FAR 91.411 and 91.413 inspection requirements.
• Experience fabricating wiring harnesses.
