Athletic Trainer – Full Time in Slidell

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking an Athletic Trainer to lead and execute its athletic trainer program in Slidell, Louisiana. The role involves planning, organizing, and conducting injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation activities under physician direction, while supporting both clinic and community‑based sports medicine initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and implement age‑appropriate prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation plans under physician or advanced practice clinician supervision.
• Provide on‑field immediate care for injuries and recommend appropriate physician or therapy follow‑up.
• Maintain accurate injury logs and documentation in accordance with contractual and policy requirements.
• Assist with day‑to‑day operations of the Sports Medicine Institute, including coordination with physicians and clinicians.
• Adapt communication style to respect patient privacy and individual needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training (Master’s degree preferred).
• Current Athletic Trainer license in Louisiana (dual license in Mississippi preferred).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• No prior work experience required.

Required skills

• Computer data entry and retrieval of patient information.
• Proficiency with Windows‑style applications and keyboard use.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
