Associate Scientist (Environmental Permitting)

About the role
Artheon is looking for an Associate Scientist to support a variety of engineering and environmental projects. The role focuses on preparing and obtaining environmental permits, conducting field assessments, and producing technical documentation within a collaborative, innovative environment.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and procure environmental permits and approvals for design projects.
- Conduct field work such as wetlands delineations and habitat assessments.
- Write technical reports, including Environmental Impact Studies and permit compliance statements.
- Review site‑plan and subdivision applications and report findings.
- Perform desktop reviews using NJDEP GeoWeb, USDA Web Soil Survey, USGS StreamStats, ArcGIS, USFWS IPaC, and related tools.
- Coordinate with project managers, clients, and regulatory agencies, attending meetings as needed.
- Continuously improve technical knowledge and assist team members.
- Perform any additional duties required for the Associate Scientist role.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or a related field.
- 2‑5 years of experience in environmental science and permitting.
- Experience with wetlands delineations, mitigation, habitat assessments, and cultural resources.
- Knowledge of NJDEP Division of Land Resource Protection and US Army Corps of Engineers regulations.
- Strong written communication and technical writing abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
