Associate Scientific Editor (Physical Science)

About the role

Cell Press Blue, the premium open‑access journal of Cell Press, is looking for an Associate Scientific Editor to help shape its rapid development in the physical‑science portfolio. Working closely with the Editor‑in‑Chief, you will drive the journal’s editorial strategy, build partnerships across the Cell Press family and ensure high‑quality content reaches the community.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and foster collaborations with other editorial, production, marketing, press and advertising teams at Cell Press.
• Evaluate manuscript submissions to maintain the journal’s scientific quality and relevance.
• Define and implement a cohesive, topical editorial vision that appeals to a broad audience.
• Leverage a network of leading researchers to attract high‑impact articles.
• Travel to conferences and research institutes to represent the journal and scout emerging science.
• Support the wider research ecosystem within Cell Press.

Required profile

• Proven research expertise in physical science; a background in material science is a plus.
• Strong ability to network and communicate with national and international researchers.
• Conceptual and critical thinking across a wide range of scientific topics.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
