Assistant Director of Pharmacy and Therapeutics

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking an Assistant Director to lead its Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) program. This senior professional staff position supports the university’s mission of delivering high‑quality patient care, education, and research.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the P&T committee in evaluating, selecting, and managing the formulary of medications.
• Develop and implement policies, clinical guidelines, and best‑practice protocols for medication use.
• Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other clinicians to ensure safe and effective therapeutic outcomes.
• Oversee budgetary and contractual aspects of the pharmacy services program.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation regulations.
• Provide education and training to staff and trainees on formulary management and therapeutic decision‑making.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in pharmacy, medicine, or a related health science field.
• Extensive experience in clinical pharmacy, formulary management, or therapeutic committee leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an academic health‑care environment.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
