Applied AI Engineer, Beneficial Deployments (Life Sciences)

About the role

Anthropic is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to join its Beneficial Deployments team, focusing on accelerating scientific progress in the life‑sciences domain. The role will embed the engineer within leading research institutions to make Claude the primary AI tool across discovery, biotech, and pharma pipelines.

Key responsibilities

• Partner deeply with flagship life‑sciences research institutions, understand end‑to‑end scientific workflows and co‑build AI solutions alongside their engineering teams.
• Design and implement reusable ecosystem infrastructure such as MCP servers for domain‑specific data sources (genomics platforms, literature databases, experimental repositories), benchmarks and agent skills.
• Identify technical challenges unique to AI deployment in life sciences—heterogeneous data, auditability, prototype‑to‑trust gaps—and feed insights back to product, engineering and research teams.
• Create technical documentation and self‑service content that enables partners to scale solutions without intensive hand‑holding.

Required profile

• Strong research background in life sciences, biomedical research or scientific computing.
• Experience collaborating with academic or research institutions and integrating software into scientific pipelines.
• Ability to translate complex scientific problems into practical AI‑driven tools.
