AI-Native Forward Deployed Engineer

About the role

Tread is looking for an AI‑Native Forward Deployed Engineer to act as the technical bridge between our construction‑logistics customers and our SaaS platform. Reporting to the VP of Customer Operations, you will spend time on‑site learning real‑world workflows and then translate those insights into shipped software, AI‑driven workflows, and product enhancements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical implementations for new accounts, including API integrations, data mapping, workflow configuration, and connectivity to scale‑house systems.
• Design and build custom integrations, data pipelines, and automation solutions for complex customer requirements.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues in the field, often on the same day they arise.
• Maintain the end‑to‑end technical relationship for a portfolio of mid‑market accounts, supporting expansion and renewal.
• Convert field‑identified pain points into shipped product features.
• Contribute code to Tread’s core stack (Ruby on Rails API, GraphQL, React) based on customer feedback.

Required profile

• Strong ability to work directly with customers, understand operational challenges, and deliver rapid technical solutions.
• Founder‑mindset with a bias toward shipping code quickly and iterating based on real‑world use.
• Experience managing technical implementations and integrations for enterprise‑level SaaS products.
• Comfortable operating both in the field and in a development environment.
