AI Architect / Developer (Hybrid, Long Beach)

About the role

Capgemini Engineering is looking for an AI Architect/Developer to design and deliver enterprise‑scale AI solutions. Based in Long Beach, CA, the role is hybrid (three days on‑site) and sits within a multidisciplinary R&D team serving clients across automotive, robotics and other high‑tech sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business requirements into scalable, secure AI architectural blueprints.
• Develop clean, modular production code and integrate AI models into existing enterprise ecosystems.
• Perform model tuning, quantization, pruning and optimization to meet latency, cost and accuracy targets.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers, enforcing best practices for code quality and model security.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation, including data‑flow diagrams, API specs and compliance artefacts.
• Work within Agile/Scrum cycles, delivering incremental milestones and ensuring continuous integration and deployment of AI assets.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience designing, developing and delivering enterprise‑scale AI/ML platforms.
• Proven ability to evaluate and select LLMs, SLMs or traditional ML models based on performance criteria.
• Strong understanding of neural networks, transformer architectures and optimization techniques.
• Experience with on‑prem, cloud‑hybrid or multi‑cloud environments and data‑governance frameworks.
• Track record of delivering production‑grade AI solutions in regulated settings.

Required skills

• Python (including PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, LlamaIndex)
• CI/CD pipelines for AI, model versioning and monitoring (MLflow, Kubeflow, Weights & Biases)
• RESTful API development (FastAPI, Flask)
• Data‑pipeline tools (Apache Airflow, Kafka, Spark)
• SQL, and familiarity with C++ or Go for performance‑critical components
• Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with LLM/SLM selection, model quantization, pruning and performance profiling
