Agency MBS Investment Strategist – Vice President

About the role

Santander is seeking an experienced Agency Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS) Investment Strategist at the Vice President level to support market coverage, client engagement, and insight development within its U.S. Corporate Investment Banking division.

Key responsibilities

• Cover the Agency MBS market, focusing on pass‑throughs, CMOs, and mortgage derivatives.
• Monitor daily market activity to assess relative value and demand shifts across asset classes.
• Analyze market data, trends, and client activity to generate actionable insights.
• Prepare reports, market updates, and written commentary for internal stakeholders and clients.
• Partner directly with institutional clients to understand needs and deliver tailored market color and investment ideas.
• Translate client objectives and market developments into clear, customized solutions.
• Collaborate with internal teams to support business development and client coverage efforts.
• Deliver presentations and communicate market views effectively to diverse audiences.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of Agency MBS products, including pass‑throughs, CMOs, and mortgage derivatives.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
• Proven selling ability and experience engaging institutional clients.
• Strong analytical capability to interpret data and develop relevant solutions.
• Commercial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities in changing market conditions.
• Highly motivated, ambitious, and entrepreneurial approach.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• FINRA Series 7 and Series 63 certifications.
