Adult Protective Services Case Manager II

About the role

The Georgia Department of Human Services, Division of Aging Services, Adult Protective Services is hiring a Case Manager II to serve adults at risk of abuse, neglect or exploitation in Marietta and the surrounding counties of Cobb and Cherokee. The position involves field investigations, client risk assessment, coordination of protective interventions, occasional travel, and may include telework opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct initial investigations of protective service reports and determine appropriate interventions.
• Assess client risk levels and take actions to ensure safety.
• Provide follow‑up, consultations, and resources to stabilize situations and prevent further abuse.
• Initiate legal guardianship processes as a last resort for incapacitated adults.
• Maintain required documentation and submit timely reports.
• Stay current on policies, laws, and trends through training and meetings.
• Perform additional professional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, OR one year experience as a lower‑level Adult Protective Services Case Manager (CM 1) or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for work‑related travel.
• Preference for experience with family violence, crisis intervention, substance abuse, or services to the elderly/disabled.
• Strong oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
