Adult Education AmeriCorps Member – Richmond, VA

About the role

The Adult Education AmeriCorps Member will join the International Rescue Committee’s ReEstablish Richmond program to support refugees and new immigrants as they pursue educational, economic, and vocational goals. This one‑year, full‑time service position begins in September 2026 and combines office work with community‑based outreach.

Key responsibilities

• Provide logistical support for the Newcomer Education Program, including scheduling classes and coordinating resources.
• Assist clients in accessing transportation, language services, and childcare to remove barriers to participation.
• Facilitate multi‑week English proficiency and digital‑literacy courses that prepare participants for workforce development.
• Collaborate with community partners and client households to deliver services on‑site and in the field.
• Track service hours and outcomes to meet AmeriCorps reporting requirements.

Required profile

• Commitment to a 40‑hour work week and availability for evening or weekend events.
• Ability to complete 1,700 service hours within the year to qualify for educational stipends.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for supporting refugee and immigrant communities.
• Residency or willingness to work in Richmond, VA.
