Adjunct Chemistry Instructor – Science Core

About the role

Under general supervision, you will provide instruction to students in Chemistry and Chemistry Lab courses, using appropriate teaching techniques and maintaining accurate grade records.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lecture and laboratory instruction following the approved syllabus.
• Maintain grade books, evaluate student progress, and complete required reports and inventory records.
• Attend professional development training and meet with students and college personnel to discuss instructional programs.

Required profile

• Earned Master’s degree in Chemistry (or related field) from an accredited institution.
• Or a Master’s degree with a teaching concentration (minimum 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).
• Preferred: documented teaching or related work experience and laboratory safety training.

Required skills

• Knowledge of current chemistry laboratory procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form for instruction and grading.

What we offer

• Set fee per course based on a $29 gross hourly rate per contact hour.
• Adjuncts are members of the Teachers Retirement System of Georgia and Employees Retirement System of Georgia, though they are not eligible for retirement benefits, state insurance, leave, or holiday pay.
