2nd Shift Plumber/Pipefitter

About the role

Join 3M as a 2nd Shift Plumber/Pipefitter, working in a collaborative environment that values curiosity and innovation. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing piping systems on a rotating second‑shift schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions, then perform repairs or adjustments using appropriate parts or innovative substitutes.
• Apply metal‑joining techniques such as arc welding, acetylene welding, brazing, and soldering, including pipe preparation.
• Set up and operate shop equipment, including hand tools, pipe threaders, tube benders, gas and arc welders.
• Complete required shop paperwork and reporting forms (e.g., Daily Work Records, P.M. Route Sheets).
• Follow safe work practices in hazardous and non‑hazardous environments and report unsafe conditions immediately.

Required profile

• At least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma/GED or higher.
• State of Minnesota Journeyman Plumber and/or Journeyman Pipefitter license.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Required skills

• Arc welding and acetylene welding.
• Brazing and soldering.
• Pipe threading and tube bending.
• Operation of hand and electric/pneumatic tools.
• Knowledge of state and local piping codes.
• Experience with low‑ and high‑pressure steam systems and backflow prevention testing.
