About the role
The Web Applications Developer II will work within Texas A&M AgriLife’s Center for Managed Technology Services to design, build, and maintain public‑facing websites and web applications. WordPress serves as the primary platform, while the role also involves creating custom web solutions, APIs, and integrations to support the organization’s digital initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Review and analyze WordPress documentation, source code, configurations, and production results to diagnose and resolve issues.
- Troubleshoot complex problems including theme and plugin conflicts, custom code defects, block editor issues, performance bottlenecks, integration failures, and accessibility defects.
- Participate in application and data design, including content modeling, database structures, API design, and integration components.
- Evaluate and recommend WordPress plugins, themes, block themes, frameworks, libraries, and APIs.
- Collaborate with developers, designers, content managers, and project leaders to modernize and maintain web platforms.
Required profile
- Proven experience developing and maintaining WordPress sites and custom web applications.
- Ability to work under direction while handling complex technical challenges.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail in debugging and performance tuning.
Required skills
- WordPress theme, plugin, and block development.
- Front‑end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- Back‑end development and API integration.
- Accessibility testing and remediation.
- Troubleshooting of web application performance and compatibility issues.
