Water/Wastewater Treatment Operator I

About the role

The Operator I is responsible for operating and maintaining water and wastewater treatment equipment at a Veolia facility. The role ensures that water is purified to meet permit and operational requirements while adhering to safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate automatic and semi‑automatic machines, including pumps, generators, valves, gates, mixers, chemical feed systems and filters.
• Monitor control panels, adjust valves and gates manually or remotely, and track flow meters, pressures and other process parameters.
• Record operating conditions in shift logs and ensure compliance with process specifications.
• Diagnose basic operational issues, report malfunctions, and perform corrective actions per procedures.
• Carry out routine and preventive maintenance, lubrication and minor adjustments on equipment.
• Perform manual labor such as filling and emptying bag filter housings, cleaning equipment and facilities.
• Conduct field chemical and physical tests, prepare chemical solutions, service automatic samplers and monitor chemical supplies.
• Execute routine laboratory tests and calibrate portable meters, including pH meters.
