About the role
The U.S. Army is seeking qualified perioperative nurses to join its surgical teams. In this role you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgery, ensuring safety and optimal outcomes for service members, their families, and veterans.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and organize nursing services for each surgical case.
- Assist the surgical team throughout the operative procedure, monitoring patient status.
- Supervise patient experience and coordinate post‑operative care.
- Maintain clinical documentation and adhere to Army medical standards.
- Participate in training, education, research, and safety initiatives.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an ACEN, CCNE, or NLN‑accredited program.
- Current, unrestricted nursing license and successful NCLEX completion.
- For Active Duty: minimum one year full‑time perioperative nursing experience.
- For Army Reserve: at least six months RN experience within the past year.
- U.S. citizenship for Active Duty positions.
- Completion of the 66E Perioperative Nursing Course or documented equivalent experience.
Required skills
- Board certification in perioperative nursing (or eligibility).
- Knowledge of surgical asepsis, patient monitoring, and emergency response.
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary military medical team.
