Traveling Construction Superintendent (Independent Contractor)

About the role

A growing commercial construction firm is seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to manage field operations across multiple U.S. markets. This independent‑contractor position involves frequent travel to active sites, overseeing subcontractors, and ensuring projects meet schedule, safety, and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily field operations for commercial construction projects.
• Travel regularly to project locations and coordinate on‑site activities.
• Supervise subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and field personnel.
• Maintain project schedules, monitor milestones, and report progress.
• Enforce safety requirements, conduct quality control inspections, and ensure compliance with building codes.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
• Communicate status, challenges, and solutions to stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate daily reports, punch lists, and project documentation.

Required profile

• 4–5 years of superintendent experience in commercial or restaurant construction.
• Proven ability to manage projects from mobilization through completion.
• Experience with tenant improvements, renovations, or fast‑paced commercial projects.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, quality control, and safety practices.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively.
