Tenured Professor of Data Science (Structural Biology)

About the role

Rutgers University seeks a distinguished tenured professor to lead the Research Collaboratory for Structural Bioinformatics Protein Data Bank (RCSB PDB) and to shape a new translational data science, AI, and cyber‑infrastructure initiative.

Key responsibilities

• Direct the RCSB PDB and sustain its success for a decade or more.
• Develop and lead a world‑class research program in 3D structural biology.
• Secure external federal and private funding.
• Establish and head an institution‑wide data science initiative.
• Teach, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, post‑doctoral fellows, and data‑science professionals.

Required profile

• Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in experimental or computational structural biology, biochemistry, chemistry, physics, computer science, statistics, or a related field.
• Outstanding record of basic and applied research contributions.
• Demonstrated advocacy for open data, FAIR and FACT principles.
• Proven experience leading large, multidisciplinary, national or international teams.
