About the role

North is building a next‑generation cloud spend management platform that gives companies real‑time visibility and control over their cloud finances. As a Software Engineer on the product team, you will design and deliver features that power this financial operating system, working in a fast‑moving hybrid environment in Brooklyn.

Key responsibilities

• Build product features that help manage half a billion dollars of annual spend and save customers millions of dollars per month.
• Design, develop, and maintain Python micro‑services that power core product functionality.
• Handle data efficiently at runtime, making thoughtful decisions about performance, memory, and latency.
• Create reusable service layers, libraries, and abstractions for cross‑team use.
• Propose architectures and solutions for new features, not just implement specifications.
• Write comprehensive tests and set up guardrails to enable rapid development without breaking existing functionality.
• Maintain and improve existing systems, refactoring as product requirements evolve.
• Collaborate closely with product, platform, and AI/ML teams, jumping across the stack as priorities shift.

Required profile

• 3–7 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven ability to deliver production‑ready code in a fast‑paced startup environment.
• Comfortable working on multiple projects in parallel and adapting to shifting priorities.
• Strong problem‑solving focus on performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Excellent collaboration skills to work with product, platform, and AI/ML teams.
