Ship Nurse – Cruise Medical Officer

About the role

The position provides comprehensive nursing care aboard the cruise vessel Pride of America, ensuring the health and safety of guests and crew members. The nurse manages medical records, responds to emergencies, and supports daily health operations in a maritime environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain guest and crew illness logs, medical notes, and injury reports.
• Prepare and manage medical center charge records and inventory using the MXP ordering system.
• Execute Code Alpha, air and land evacuation procedures, and lead stretcher teams during drills.
• Conduct weekly checks and maintenance of emergency and medical equipment, including sterilization of surgical instruments.
• Collect and test water samples for coliform organisms and maintain acute gastroenteritis logs.
• Order medical supplies, monitor budget, and ensure proper inventory levels.

Required profile

• Minimum three years post‑graduate clinical experience.
• At least one year each in Emergency Department, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Basic Life Support.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; BSN preferred.
• Valid nursing license for the country of operation (U.S. license required for U.S. flagged vessels).
• Current ACLS certification, renewed every two years.
