Senior Paralegal

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Senior Paralegal for a 100% in-office position. The role works under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or Project Supervisor, with work products reviewed before submission but often developed with minimal direct supervision beyond written guidelines. It is an hourly, overtime-eligible position under the Service Contract Act.

Key responsibilities

• Compile, prepare and summarize materials for attorneys' use in discovery and in preparing motions, briefs and other legal documents
• Summarize depositions and other transcripts, and synthesize transcripts of hearings and oral arguments
• Maintain case files and perform simple to moderately complex legal research
• Index, track and control document discovery, and index, track and exhibit materials at depositions and trial; prepare exhibit cross-references
• Assist attorneys in the courtroom and review documents for relevance and privilege
• Write preliminary drafts of simple legal memoranda and correspondence, and compile documents for FOIA, production requests and Congressional inquiries

Required profile

• Paralegal certificate, JD, or currently enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school (at least one year of study)
• At least two years of litigation paralegal experience; trial experience very helpful
• At least one year of experience in automated litigation support
• Sound working knowledge of federal and state courts, legal research procedures and resources
• Ability to deliver high-quality work under extreme pressure
• Must obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials; US citizenship is required for this work location

Required skills

• Excellent written and oral communication
• Knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw
• Familiarity with word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging and hardware systems
• Hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures
