About the role
The Vermont State Auditor's Office is seeking a Senior Auditor – Performance Analyst to strengthen government accountability through performance auditing. You will evaluate state programs across health care, human services, transportation, education, and public safety, using data analysis to support findings and recommendations.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct performance audits of state agencies and programs.
- Analyze large data sets to identify trends, efficiencies, and areas for improvement.
- Prepare clear, concise audit reports and present findings to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with audit teams and external partners to ensure audit objectives are met.
- Manage audit timelines, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, public administration, or related field (or Bachelor’s with additional experience).
- Three (3) years of professional auditing experience applying GAGAS or comparable standards (or five (5) years with a bachelor’s degree).
- Independent, objective, and systematic approach to evidence analysis.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
