RPA Aircraft Mechanic I - Deployment Pool

About the role

The USAF is recruiting an RPA Aircraft Mechanic I for the Deployment Pool. The member supports deployments to CONUS and OCONUS locations and must be flexible about deployment and work schedules. The position is equivalent to an Aircraft Mechanic Apprentice.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and inspect organizational and intermediate-level maintenance and modifications on RPA systems and support equipment
• Repair, replace and rebuild aircraft structures, landing gear, power plants, fuel systems and functional components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, rivet guns and drills
• Diagnose, isolate and repair engine malfunctions such as cracks and oil leaks, and reassemble engines after inspection
• Adjust, repair or replace instruments, flight controls, electrical/electronic systems, fuel and oil systems and accessories
• Perform aircraft services such as engine flushing, parts lubrication and maintenance checks
• Maintain accurate parts inventory and support aircraft maintenance schedules
• Work with little to no supervision and perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• High school diploma or completion of relevant military and/or vocational technical training
• At least one year of actual aircraft mechanic maintenance experience
• Ability to deploy to forward locations abroad and meet OCONUS deployment criteria, including pre-deployment medical screening
• Active Secret US Government clearance within the last 12 months (US citizenship required); ability to maintain the clearance
• Current state driver's license and ability to obtain a flight-line government driver's license
• Valid US passport with at least two years remaining and four blank visa pages
• COVID-19 vaccination with booster; ability to lift more than 50 pounds for extended periods
• Preferred: associate degree, FAA Airframe and Powerplant mechanic license, RPA deployment experience, defense contractor experience, MQ-9 or composite repair experience
