Roadway Senior Project Manager

About the role

Volkert is seeking an experienced Roadway Senior Project Manager to lead complex transportation projects across its Southwest Texas region. The role involves overseeing all phases of project delivery, from planning and execution to close‑out, while maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring compliance with TxDOT standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and present a Project Execution Plan (PEP) that defines team structure, tasks, schedule, manpower estimates, and budget.
• Conduct project kick‑off meetings, coordinate quality‑control reviews, and manage project documentation for closure.
• Maintain ongoing client communication to resolve technical and scheduling issues.
• Lead regular staff meetings, prepare monthly progress reports, and present detailed reviews to the Group Manager.
• Monitor revenue, accounts receivable, and work‑in‑progress reports.
• Approve design changes, evaluate scope impacts on budget and schedule, and negotiate fee adjustments with clients.
• Oversee invoicing, collections, and ensure timely submission of billing documentation.
• Support business development initiatives and nurture professional client relationships.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas.
• Minimum 15 years of experience using TxDOT processes, manuals, or guidance.
• Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening in accordance with federal regulations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer.
• Extensive knowledge of TxDOT specific processes and standards.
