About the role

The United Nations Department of Global Communications is seeking a Public Information Intern to support its Human Rights and Outreach programmes. The internship will be based at UN Headquarters in New York and focuses on the "No To Hate" digital campaign and Nelson Mandela International Day activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct research on thematic issues related to hate speech, the No To Hate campaign, and Nelson Mandela International Day.
  • Assist in drafting, formatting, and editing website content, including graphics, photographs, and videos.
  • Create social‑media posts and campaign assets for the No To Hate initiative.
  • Support event planning and logistics, including speaker research, invitation preparation, and promotional material production.
  • Provide general office support such as correspondence processing, file management, and meeting coordination.

Required profile

  • Enrolled in or recently completed a graduate‑level programme (second university degree or equivalent).
  • Strong interest in human‑rights communication, digital campaigning, and public outreach.
  • Excellent written communication skills in English.
