Project Manager – Mission Critical Data Centers

About the role

WSP’s kW Mission Critical Engineering division is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead medium to large‑scale mission‑critical data center projects from the Herndon, VA office. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage client relationships, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineers, designers and support staff through all project phases, handling multiple projects simultaneously.
• Develop and obtain approval for project work plans, proposals, schedules, and budgets.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, stakeholders, vendors, and regulatory agencies, proactively resolving issues.
• Track and report actual performance against plans, including cost, schedule, and KPI reporting.
• Manage change orders, risk mitigation, and business development activities such as RFP responses.
• Provide mentorship, technical leadership, and administrative oversight for project teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management.
• 5‑7 years of project or program management experience on large engineering or construction projects.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage scope, schedule, and quality.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, with experience presenting to senior management and public audiences.
• Ability to work under deadline pressure, handle ambiguity, and make ethical decisions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Project.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with project delivery models, risk, cost, and schedule management.
