Project Engineer – Capital Projects

About the role

3M is seeking a Project Engineer to lead capital engineering projects that drive growth, cost reduction, EHS improvement, and equipment/facility renewal. You will work with multidisciplinary teams across electrical, facilities, design, and operations to deliver high‑impact outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead capital projects from concept through completion, managing scope, budget, schedule, and forecasting.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams including engineers, designers, and operations staff.
• Apply project engineering fundamentals to ensure financial and performance targets are met.
• Travel up to 25% domestically or internationally as required.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree/Technical Diploma with 5 years of engineering, manufacturing, or project‑management experience, OR Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
• Experience managing capital equipment or facilities projects in private, public, government, or military settings.
• Familiarity with webline, extrusion, material handling, or inspection equipment.
• Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment.

Required skills

• Project engineering fundamentals (scope, budget, schedule, forecasting, financial analysis).
• Proficiency with spreadsheet software for computation.
• Experience with project presentation and scheduling tools.
• Knowledge of webline, extrusion, material handling, and inspection equipment.
