About the role
The Ophthalmic Assistant provides essential support to ophthalmology clinicians in a busy academic medical center. Working on the day shift, the assistant helps ensure smooth patient flow and high‑quality eye care services.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare patients for ophthalmic examinations and procedures.
- Assist ophthalmologists with diagnostic testing and minor procedures.
- Maintain and sterilize ophthalmic equipment and instruments.
- Document patient information accurately in the electronic health record.
- Manage appointment scheduling and patient communication.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in ophthalmic assisting preferred.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Ability to work day shifts in a clinical environment.
- Strong attention to detail and patient‑centered attitude.
Required skills
- Basic knowledge of ophthalmic terminology and procedures.
- Proficiency with standard office and clinical software.
- Ability to handle and maintain delicate eye‑care equipment.
