Medical Assistant – Coffield Unit (Correctional Managed Care)

About the role

The Coffield Unit needs a Medical Assistant to support the Correctional Managed Care program. You will provide administrative, medical‑record, materials‑management and delegated clinical services in a secure, indoor correctional health setting.

Key responsibilities

• Operate computers to enter data, generate reports, draft correspondence and perform filing, mail and fax duties.
• Maintain a tracking system for medical record charts, review records for completeness and file charts and loose‑leaf elements.
• Receive, store, distribute and inventory medical supplies, including narcotic‑based medicines, and process requisitions and work orders.
• Perform physician‑delegated tasks under RN supervision: obtain vital signs, collect urine, feces and blood specimens (venipuncture), and assist patient flow in the outpatient clinic.

• Ability to work independently with sound judgment in an administrative capacity.
• Attention to detail for accurate medical‑record handling and inventory control.
• Comfort with basic clinical procedures and adherence to security and reporting protocols.
