Mechanical Engineer – Utilities Projects

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer – Utilities Projects supports the Reedy Creek Energy Services Project Management Department in delivering capital and maintenance projects for utility facilities and mechanical systems. The role involves planning, design coordination, field support, and documentation to ensure safe, on‑time, and on‑budget project delivery while meeting technical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Support planning, design, and execution of HVAC upgrades, pump and piping installations, boiler and chiller replacements.
• Manage external design firms to ensure designs meet requirements, quality, schedule, and budget.
• Assist project managers with scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
• Coordinate with engineering, operations, construction crews, and contractors to convey design intent.
• Prepare project documentation: mechanical drawings, specifications, bid packages, submittal reviews, and as‑built records.
• Conduct on‑site visits to verify conditions, support construction, and track progress.
• Identify and mitigate project risks, including equipment reliability and operational impact.
• Maintain organized project files, logs, and records for reporting and compliance.
• Support commissioning, equipment testing, and close‑out deliverables.
• Participate in troubleshooting mechanical systems during project work.

Required profile

• Foundational understanding of utility or industrial mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, pumps, chillers, boilers).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical engineering or mechanical project work.
• Proficiency with mechanical design and diagnostic tools.
• Proactive problem‑solving ability and strong collaboration across teams.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills for a project‑driven environment.
