Maintenance Planner / Scheduler

About the role

The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler will coordinate low‑priority routine and special maintenance activities, including capital projects, for BASF’s Dispersions & Resins business in Freeport, Texas. The role focuses on improving maintenance efficiency by defining scope, labor, materials, tools, equipment and timelines needed to execute work safely and effectively.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the maintenance backlog using defined work‑order status codes.
• Develop and maintain detailed, safe and efficient job plans.
• Support emergency and critical work execution with supervisors and operations teams.
• Maintain spare‑parts inventory, create purchase requisitions and optimize stock levels within budget.
• Build and validate job kits and align daily schedules with weekly plans.
• Facilitate weekly scheduling meetings with production and maintenance teams.
• Develop multi‑craft weekly schedules to optimize labor and resources.
• Assist in planning outages, shutdowns and turnarounds.
• Provide staffing input based on trends and forecasts.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification preferred.
• At least 2 years of maintenance planning/scheduling experience.
• Preferred: 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in petrochemical or refining environments.
• Background in instrumentation, electrical or mechanical disciplines is advantageous.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of maintenance planning and scheduling processes.
• Experience with CMMS systems, preferably SAP.
• Proficiency with scheduling tools such as Primavera P6.
• Knowledge of spare‑parts and inventory management.
• Ability to troubleshoot plant equipment and processes.
• Familiarity with safety standards and equipment repair procedures.
