Linux Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Linux Engineer to join our team on a contract basis at our Springfield, TX site. The role focuses on the design, deployment, and support of Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments and related infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and troubleshoot RHEL 7/8/9 servers, including Satellite and Cluster services.
• Configure Kickstart installations, Identity Management, and user/performance management.
• Maintain cron jobs, LVM, OS patching, and package repositories (Yum/RPM).
• Implement configuration management using Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
• Support VMware and other virtualization platforms.
• Develop and maintain shell, Perl, and Python scripts for automation.
• Handle disaster recovery, OS recovery, and bare‑metal provisioning.
• Perform network troubleshooting, SAN migrations, and monitor systems with BMC Patrol, SolarWinds, or Tivoli.
• Apply security controls (SELinux, OSSEC, SSSD, LDAP, Kerberos) and manage password policies.

Required profile

• 10+ years of IT experience with a strong focus on Linux administration.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and collaborate across teams.
• Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
