Lineman Foreman – Seasonal Antarctic Contract

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Lineman Foreman for a seasonal contract supporting the National Science Foundation's United States Antarctic Program under the Antarctic Support Contract (ASC). The foreman supervises and performs electrical distribution maintenance or construction work, or a combination of both, under the supervision of the Assistant Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, with tasking driven by ASC schedule requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the Facilities Line Shop and Linemen, and assign duties to subordinate staff
• Install and maintain branch circuits, power distribution wiring, electrical equipment, fixtures and conduit, and overhead lines up to 4160 volts, in line with the NESC and NEC
• Diagnose, repair and carry out preventative maintenance on existing systems
• Follow the ASC Electrical Safety Program, the Work Center Safety Program and ASC ESH, waste management and quality assurance requirements
• Respond to emergency service calls during and outside normal hours, and document hours, tasking, materials and processes accurately
• Represent the department at operational meetings, advise the supervisor on progress and resource needs, and handle personnel matters with HR
• Order resupply materials, approve timesheets and Maximo work orders, and help other trades and departments
• Deploy to remote research support facilities (McMurdo only) and work outdoors in extreme cold

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Medium to high voltage electrical license or equivalent
• At least six years of experience in the lineman trade, including two years in a lead, foreman or supervisory position
• US citizenship required to obtain and maintain facility credentials at the work location
• Medical, dental, drug screening and federal background checks completed
• Ability to lift heavy loads, climb in and out of equipment and work outdoors in extreme cold

Required skills

• Experience with 4160 volt systems or higher
• Knowledge of the NESC and NEC, including grounding and bonding
• Preferred: commercial driver's license, experience in a commercial or industrial environment, Microsoft Office Suite
