IT Infrastructure & Systems Engineer

About the role

Exacta Systems is seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure & Systems Engineer to join its Austin headquarters. The role focuses on hands‑on Linux server administration, virtualization, and remote network management while supporting cutting‑edge gaming technology for historical horse racing.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain Ubuntu‑based servers with a focus on security and performance.
• Manage virtualized environments, provision VMs, and optimize resource usage.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and configure servers, NAS systems, and network devices remotely.
• Create, modify, and deploy device configurations across diverse IT systems.
• Research, test, and document emerging technologies, providing recommendations to management.
• Travel domestically and internationally on short notice (12‑24 hours) for installations and upgrades.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on system and network administration experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities in complex IT environments.
• Experience with remote infrastructure management and network security best practices.
• Ability to independently research, test, and document new technologies.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
