Industrial Engineer – Manufacturing Productivity

About the role

3M is seeking an Industrial Engineer focused on manufacturing productivity to design, simplify, and optimize production processes. You will work across global sites, collaborating with operations, engineering, quality, maintenance, and supply‑chain teams to drive reliable, efficient manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Simulate, simplify, and optimize material flow and manufacturing processes to improve throughput and reduce bottlenecks.
• Develop process maps, labor analyses, capacity models, and cost‑benefit assessments for project planning.
• Lead process‑improvement initiatives that lower variability and enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
• Identify and evaluate automation opportunities, including automated material movement and storage technologies.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to define requirements, technical specifications, and implementation plans.
• Support equipment selection, testing, installation, validation, and commissioning.
• Establish standard work, operating procedures, and training materials for new or improved automated processes.
• Monitor KPIs such as throughput, cycle time, uptime, scrap, and OEE to measure results and uncover further improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or a closely related field.
