Fundamental AI Researcher – FAIR

About the role

Meta’s Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) team is seeking a researcher to advance the science of intelligent machines, focusing on reasoning, alignment, and memory. You will collaborate with world‑class scientists on exploratory projects spanning self‑supervised learning, higher‑level reasoning, and novel memory techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct fundamental research to push forward AI capabilities in reasoning, alignment, and memory.
• Develop methods that enable machines to understand semantics across modalities such as images, video, text, and audio.
• Set long‑term research goals while delivering short‑term milestones.
• Publish findings in top‑tier conferences and open‑source high‑quality code.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• PhD in AI, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline.
• 2+ years of industry, post‑doctoral, faculty, or government research experience in machine learning, optimization, computer vision, or NLP.
• First‑author publications at peer‑reviewed venues such as ACL, EMNLP, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, etc.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python (or similar programming languages).
