Foreign Language Instructor – Arlington, VA

About the role

Piedmont Global (PGLS) is recruiting experienced foreign language and culture instructors to join the School of Language Studies at the National Foreign Affairs Training Center (formerly FSI) in Arlington, VA. Instructors will deliver language training, mentoring, and testing for adult learners during the 2026‑2027 academic year.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and conduct group language classes for adult learners in a small‑group, onsite setting.
• Utilize established curriculum materials and collaborate with the Language Training Section (LTS) and fellow instructors.
• Assess student progress, provide feedback, and adapt teaching techniques to individual needs.
• Administer formal and informal proficiency assessments.
• Maintain an online classroom environment using the Foreign Service Institute’s Learning Management System.
• With COR approval, organize or participate in non‑classroom language activities in the Washington, DC area.

Required profile

• Native or near‑native speaker of the target language (ILR Level 4 or higher).
• Strong cultural background of the language’s country or region.
• BA/BS, MA/MS, Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in any field.
• Minimum three years of experience teaching the language to adult learners (groups of two or more).
• At least three years teaching with proficiency‑based or task‑based curricula.
• One year of experience administering proficiency‑based assessments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Foreign Service Institute’s Learning Management System for online classroom management.
