About the role

Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP is seeking a motivated attorney to join its Finance, Bankruptcy & Restructuring Practice Group on the Financial Services Team. The role supports multiple U.S. offices, with a preference for locations in North Carolina, Irvine, Cleveland, Baltimore, and Denver.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate, prepare, review, and manage local counsel opinions for commercial lending transactions.
• Analyze opinion requests, identify jurisdiction‑specific issues, and ensure opinions meet lender expectations and firm standards.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for referring counsel, resolve inconsistencies, and negotiate opinion language when needed.
• Partner with deal teams to deliver accurate and complete opinions on tight timelines.
• Maintain and apply knowledge of opinion practice, customary assumptions, qualifications, and enforceability concepts.
• Contribute to internal knowledge‑sharing and best‑practice development related to opinion processes.

Required profile

• 3–6 years of experience in equipment finance, asset‑based lending, or commercial finance.
• Experience preparing commercial lending local counsel opinions; real‑estate opinion experience is a plus.
• Excellent judgment, meticulous legal analysis, and strong written communication.
• Ability to work independently, manage complex workflows, and handle multiple transactions concurrently.
• Strong communication skills across offices and jurisdictions.
• Admission to practice, or eligibility for admission, in the jurisdiction of the assigned office.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of commercial lending and local counsel opinion practices.
• Familiarity with equipment finance and asset‑based lending structures.
